Decorating Kiln, Gladstone (Varied Edition)
One of two versions of the smallest surviving kiln on the Gladstone Pottery Museum site, I love the variety of shapes and textures in and around it. This linocut was actually taken from a drawing made on site, most of my linocuts are drawn from photographs that I've taken as references. As with Johnson's and Enson I decided to make a feature of the cobbles, which was even more of a challenge here as there is also a pile of coal, which had to be of a distinctly different texture. This alternative edition is varied and has several different versions, mainly where the kiln is concerned as I inked it quite sparsely and took two prints off each inking, some are like this one and some are much paler.
The image is A6, on Japanese Ho-Sho paper just smaller than A4. It is printed using Cranfield Caligo Safewash inks. It will be sent flat, in a reinforced envelope.
