St Bartholomew's Church, Blurton original linocut
This is the historic St Bartholomew's Church in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent. There is known to have been a church on this site since 1577, but this building dates from 1620 onwards, with alterations and additions happening occasionally over the centuries. The print is based on my drawing of the Church, I walk past it every day when I walk the dog and I find the shapes of the building and lych-gate fascinating. I found myself working out the basics of a print every time I passed it by, and eventually I managed it! I have since made two other linocut prints based on it, one of which is a landscape version in colour.
It's hand-printed on BFK Rives archival paper in water-based ink in black-brown. (It's likely that a reprint from it will be with oil-based ink on Japanese paper at which point I'll try to remember to edit this description!) The print area measures 14.5 cm x 20.3cm, the paper size is roughly A4 although each one varies a little due to them being hand-torn. As it is a single colour linocut, I'm able to print more when needed, and could use different, or even graduated colour if desired. Please message if you have any specific requirements.
