Toad Stool
This is one of a limited edition of 16 of my linocut 'Toad Stool'. It is a six-colour reduction linocut, a process which means that the block of lino that I have used to print it has been cut away a little more for each layer, and is therefore pretty much destroyed by the end of the process.
It is quite a varied edition - each individual image is unique due to it being hand-printed, and even more so with this edition as I have allowed the ink to 'have its say' a little more than usual to exploit the autumnal feel of the first layers showing through.
It is printed on Stonehenge 250gsm warm white acid free paper. The image area is 11.5cm x 9.5cm (4.5" x 3.75" approx), and the paper is approx 25.5cm x 18.5cm (10" x 7.5")
I used Caligo Safewash oil-based relief print inks, which do not require solvents for cleaning up. The prints are dry, but have remained slightly tacky, as I had only just started using this make of ink. Now I use it more thinly!
